Material Calculation
The most common question we get asked is "how much material will I need".
Of course we are always happy to help, so if doing math and stuff isn't for you - just contact us.
But for those wheelbarrow enthusiasts out there who like to crunch numbers too - here's what you need to know to get the right amount for your job.
Calculate Your Area
Start by measuring your project area, if it's a simple rectangle or square you'll only need two sides, width and height to calculate area.
W * H = A
If it's a more complex shape, you may need to do some geometry.
Material Density
Light materials are things like wood chips and beauty bark. Heavy materials are dirt, gravel, stone, and sand.
-
We can deliver up to 4 yards of the heavy stuff.
-
Or about 6 yards of the light stuff.
The Cubic Yard
We usually communicate with our customers in terms of the cubic yard or yd³.
1 yd³ = 100ft² @ 3.25" deep.
A cubic yard will cover a hundred square feet at three and a quarter inches deep.
Questions?
All you need to know to measure the quantities you'll need for your project are the total area (in square feet), and desired depth of coverage.
"How much is necessary for my specific project?" Let's talk about that.
